Island Innovation Fund opens September 1

Announcing Round 2. Get your Concept ready for September.

Hawaii Community Foundation is pleased to announce the Island Innovation Fund grant program will open next month. Grants of up to $100,000 will be available to support innovations that break with traditional ways of doing business, transform the way nonprofits achieve their mission, and create widespread social impact. HCF may distribute up to$1M in this round.

As you know, we received valuable feedback from many first round participants. We heard that you liked the transparency of the process, but asked for more clarity about how grant decisions were made. You shared that the online process was helpful, but that expectations for collaboration were unclear. We have made changes to address these concerns, among others, in this second round. We have preserved the transparency and improved the technical functions of the website, and we look forward to your innovations.

The website for Round 2 is now live. You may read what’s new and revisit the guidelines and FAQs. You will be able to register and create your Profile and Concept on September 1. HCF will conduct an overview of Round 2 on Wednesday, September 7 at 10:00 am. Visit www.islandinnovation.org to sign up for the email list and register for the webinar.

Hawaii-based nonprofit organizations may submit one Concept anytime from September 1 through 30. Concepts sharing will occur through October 20. Invited proposals will be due in mid-December, and awards are expected by February 2012. Visit the website for more details.

Mahalo,
The Island Innovation Team
